relating to identifying teen pregnancy crisis areas. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 531, Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 531.0997 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 531.0997. TEEN PREGNANCY CRISIS AREA REPORT. (a) In | ||
this section, "teen pregnancy crisis area" means a zip code area in | ||
which the teen birth rate is at least two times the national teen | ||
birth rate. | ||
(b) The commission, using information available from the | ||
Department of State Health Services and the United States Centers | ||
for Disease Control and Prevention or other information the | ||
commission determines is reliable, shall prepare an annual report | ||
on teen pregnancy crisis areas. | ||
(c) The report must include: | ||
(1) a list of teen pregnancy crisis areas; and | ||
(2) a list of zip code areas that were classified as | ||
teen pregnancy crisis areas during the previous year, but are no | ||
longer teen pregnancy crisis areas. | ||
(d) Not later than December 1 of each year, the commission | ||
shall post the report on the commission's Internet website. | ||
SECTION 2. Not later than December 1, 2015, the Health and | ||
Human Services Commission shall prepare and post on the | ||
commission's Internet website the initial report required under | ||
Section 531.0997, Government Code, as added by this Act. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
