relating to allowing a person to register a motor vehicle when | ||
delinquent in the payment of certain civil penalties. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 707.017(a), Transportation Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(a) If the owner of a motor vehicle is delinquent in the | ||
payment of a civil penalty imposed under this chapter, the county | ||
assessor-collector or the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles may | ||
not refuse to register, under Section 502.010 or any other law, a | ||
motor vehicle alleged to have been involved in the violation. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 707.017(b), Transportation Code, is | ||
repealed. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
