A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the waiver of requirements for removing a person's
  license from inactive status during a state of disaster.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 301.261, Occupations Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows:
         (d-1)  Notwithstanding Subsection (d) and as necessary to
  mitigate a nursing workforce shortage caused by a state of
  disaster, the board shall waive a requirement that a person pay a
  fee or complete any required continuing education to remove the
  person's license from inactive status if the license has been on
  inactive status for less than four years.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
