relating to requiring public junior colleges to award course credit | ||
to students who hold a Child Development Associate credential. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 130, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 130.0107 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 130.0107. CREDIT FOR COMPLETION OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT | ||
ASSOCIATE CREDENTIAL. In accordance with rules adopted by the | ||
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, a public junior college | ||
shall award at least six semester credit hours or the equivalent to | ||
a student enrolled in the junior college who holds a Child | ||
Development Associate (CDA) credential. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2023-2024 | ||
academic year. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
