| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Sections 81.0025(a) and (b), Local Government | ||
| Code, are amended to read as follows: | ||
| (a) A county commissioner must successfully complete at | ||
| least 16 [ |

| performance of the duties of county commissioners at least once in | ||
| each 12-month period. | ||
| (b) Continuing education instruction required by this | ||
| section must be certified by an accredited public institution of | ||
| higher education and may be completed online. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | ||
