BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 39.306, Education Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (e-1) to read as follows: | ||
(e-1) A teacher who is employed by a school district through | ||
participation in a program that requires a two-year teaching | ||
commitment in an underserved area or low-income community and who | ||
leaves employment with the district after the two-year commitment | ||
is not considered for purposes of reporting teacher turnover | ||
information under Subsection (e)(3). | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2015-2016 | ||
school year. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
