subdivision in media other than a newspaper. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Chapter 2051, Government Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subchapter E to read as follows: | ||
SUBCHAPTER E. NOTICE BY POLITICAL SUBDIVISION BY PUBLICATION IN | ||
MEDIA OTHER THAN NEWSPAPER | ||
Sec. 2051.151. NOTICE BY PUBLICATION IN MEDIA OTHER THAN | ||
NEWSPAPER. (a) A political subdivision may satisfy a requirement | ||
in any other law to provide notice by publication in a newspaper by | ||
publishing the notice in any other form of media that the political | ||
subdivision determines will provide sufficient public notice, | ||
including on the political subdivision's Internet website or an | ||
Internet newspaper. | ||
(b) A notice published in media other than a newspaper must | ||
be published for the period required by law for the publication of | ||
the notice in a newspaper. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
