| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 501.008, Government Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Subsection (g) to read as follows: | ||
| (g) The department shall submit a quarterly report | ||
| regarding inmate grievances to the governor, the lieutenant | ||
| governor, the state auditor, and each member of the legislature. | ||
| The report must include the number and types of inmate grievances | ||
| received by the department, aggregated and disaggregated by | ||
| individual facility. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
