relating to confirmation of a voter's residence by a voter | ||
registrar. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 15.051(a), Election Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
(a) If the registrar receives notice under Section 13.146, | ||
14.023, 16.0921, or 18.0681(d) or otherwise has reason to believe | ||
that a voter's current residence is different from that indicated | ||
on the registration records, the registrar shall deliver to the | ||
voter a written confirmation notice requesting confirmation of the | ||
voter's current residence. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
