relating to requiring a school district corrective action plan to | ||
improve district transparency in certain circumstances. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 39, Education Code, is | ||
amended by adding Section 39.060 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 39.060. CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN FOR CERTAIN VIOLATIONS. | ||
(a) If a school district is notified by the agency of a special | ||
accreditation investigation for an alleged violation of compliance | ||
with the requirements for open meetings under Chapter 551, | ||
Government Code, the district's board of trustees must, with | ||
assistance from the agency, prepare a corrective action plan to | ||
improve the transparency of board activities. The plan must | ||
include methods to: | ||
(1) increase information reporting frequency as | ||
determined necessary by the agency; | ||
(2) improve accessibility of reported information; | ||
and | ||
(3) ensure that reported information is easily | ||
understandable to parents of students enrolled in the district and | ||
community members. | ||
(b) The school district, with assistance from the agency, | ||
must complete a corrective action plan not later than the 90th day | ||
after the date the agency completes the special accreditation | ||
investigation described by Subsection (a). | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
