A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the restriction on participating in the primary
  election of more than one political party.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 172.026, Election Code, is amended to
  read as follows:
         Sec. 172.026.  RESTRICTION ON PETITION SIGNER. (a) On
  signing a petition to be filed under Section 172.021, the signer
  becomes ineligible to vote in a primary election or participate in a
  convention of another political party during the voting year in
  which the primary election is held.
         (b)  The secretary of state by rule shall provide for a
  notation to be entered on the list of registered voters furnished
  for use in the primary election that indicates next to the name of
  each voter who signs a petition to be filed under Section 172.021
  the party of the candidate for whom the voter signed.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
