Summary

As introduced, requires a public school to credit a student who participates in a non-school-sponsored extracurricular activity, or who participates in up to 10 days of basic training required by a branch of the United States armed services, as present for attendance purposes; requires, subject to certain exceptions, a principal, or the principal's designee, to excuse a student from school attendance for up to 10 days to pursue an educational advancement opportunity. - Amends TCA Title 49, Chapter 1; Title 49, Chapter 2 and Title 49, Chapter 6.
