Explanation of Fiscal Impact

State Expenditure

This bill repeals the requirement that circuit court judges be granted written leave by the Chief Justice or presiding associate justice if they wish to absent themselves from the State.  The bill codifies Proviso 57.19 of the Appropriations Act into permanent law.  Judicial reports that the bill will have no expenditure impact.

A bill

TO AMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS BY REPEALING SECTION 14-5-130 RELATING TO JUDGES ABSENTING THEMSELVES FROM THE STATE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1.  Section 14-5-130 of the S.C. Code is repealed.

SECTION 2.  This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
