A BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 1-1-545 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A MEMBER OF A STATE BOARD OR STATE COMMISSION MAY NOT BE EMPLOYED BY THE BOARD OR COMMISSION ON WHICH HE SERVES, OR AN ENTITY GOVERNED BY THAT BOARD OR COMMISSION, DURING THE TERM OF HIS SERVICE OR FOR ONE YEAR AFTER HIS TENURE ON THE BOARD OR COMMISSION ENDS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 7, Chapter 1, Title 1 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 1-1-545. A member of a state board or state commission may not be employed by the board or commission on which he serves, or an entity governed by that board or commission, during the term of his service or for one year after his tenure on the board or commission ends."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
