INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, SEPTEMBER 30, 2009
A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of October 2009 as "American Pharmacists
Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, American Pharmacists Month 2009 will be celebrated
in October; and
WHEREAS, This month-long observance is a time to recognize
the significant contributions to health care and the commitment
to patient care by pharmacists in all practice settings from
around this nation; and
WHEREAS, "Know Your Medicine, Know Your Pharmacist" will
serve as the theme and core message for this year; and
WHEREAS, The American Pharmacists Association continues to
promote the role of the pharmacist on the health care team
during a time when health care reform is in the national
spotlight; and
WHEREAS, "American Pharmacists Month" is a time to motivate
the pharmacist's staff, educate patients and inspire the
community to "Know Your Medicine, Know Your Pharmacist"; and
WHEREAS, "American Pharmacists Month" objectives are to
recognize the vital contributions made by pharmacists to health
care in the United States, enhance the image of pharmacists as
medication experts and an integral part of the health care team,
not just dispensers of medication, educate the public, policy
makers, pharmacists and other health care professionals about
the key role played by pharmacists in reducing overall health
care costs by improved medication use and advanced patient care
and stress the importance of knowing your medicine and knowing
your pharmacist to ensure drug therapy is as safe and effective
as possible; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of October 2009
as "American Pharmacists Month" in Pennsylvania; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That all Pennsylvanians are encouraged to
participate in the observance of "American Pharmacists Month."
