| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 4 (Amusements) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated |
2 | Statutes, further providing for the definition of "slot |
3 | machine." |
4 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
5 | hereby enacts as follows: |
6 | Section 1. The definition of "slot machine" in section 1103 |
7 | of Title 4 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended |
8 | to read: |
9 | § 1103. Definitions. |
10 | The following words and phrases when used in this part shall |
11 | have the meanings given to them in this section unless the |
12 | context clearly indicates otherwise: |

14 | "Slot machine." Any mechanical or electrical contrivance, |
15 | terminal, machine or other device approved by the Pennsylvania |
16 | Gaming Control Board which, upon insertion of a coin, bill, |
17 | ticket, token or similar object therein or upon payment of any |
18 | consideration whatsoever, including the use of any electronic |

1 | payment system except a credit card or debit card, is available |
2 | to play or operate, the play or operation of which, whether by |
3 | reason of skill or application of the element of chance or both, |
4 | may deliver or entitle the person or persons playing or |
5 | operating the contrivance, terminal, machine or other device to |
6 | receive cash, billets, tickets, tokens or electronic credits to |
7 | be exchanged for cash or to receive merchandise or anything of |
8 | value whatsoever, whether the payoff is made automatically from |
9 | the machine or manually. A slot machine: |
10 | (1) May utilize spinning reels or video displays or |
11 | both. |
12 | (2) May or may not dispense coins, tickets or tokens to |
13 | winning patrons. |
14 | (3) May use an electronic credit system for receiving |
15 | wagers and making payouts. |
16 | The term shall include associated equipment necessary to conduct |
17 | the operation of the contrivance, terminal, machine or other |
18 | device. The term shall not include a mechanical or electrical |
19 | contrivance, terminal, machine or other device that permits the |
20 | playing of virtual blackjack and virtual roulette. |
