A RESOLUTION

Extending condolences on the death of Sergeant Nathan P. Kennedy

2

of Claysville, who was killed in action on April 27, 2010, in

3

Afghanistan.

4

WHEREAS, Sgt. Nathan P. Kennedy was born in Wheeling, West

5

Virginia, on May 5, 1985, the son of Joseph Kennedy and the late

6

Penelope Henry Kennedy; and

7

WHEREAS, A 2004 graduate of McGuffey High School, Sgt.

8

Kennedy was a three-time section wrestling champion; and

9

WHEREAS, Sgt. Kennedy was tragically shot and killed while on

10

foot patrol with the United States Army in Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS, Having recently reenlisted for another four years,

2

Sgt. Kennedy was killed just three weeks shy of the date he was

3

expected to return home from his second tour of duty, the first

4

having been in Iraq; and

5

WHEREAS, Sgt. Kennedy was a United States Army Ranger,

6

serving as a sniper assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th

7

Infantry, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division based

8

at Fort Carson, Colorado; and

9

WHEREAS, Sgt. Kennedy was a loving son, brother, grandson,

10

nephew and friend who served his country with devotion and

11

pride; therefore be it

12

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend

13

condolences on the death of Sergeant Nathan P. Kennedy, who was

14

killed in action on April 27, 2010, in Afghanistan; and be it

15

further

16

RESOLVED, That copy of this resolution be transmitted to Sgt.

17

Kennedy's father, Joseph Kennedy.
