| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Designating May 26, 2010, as "Microenterprise Day" in |
2 | Pennsylvania. |
3 | WHEREAS, A microenterprise is a business with five or fewer |
4 | employees and is small enough to require capital of $35,000 or |
5 | less; and |
6 | WHEREAS, A microenterprise is a sole proprietorship that |
7 | creates employment for the owner; and |
8 | WHEREAS, There are close to 900,000 microenterprises in this |
9 | Commonwealth, and they account for more than 1.2 million jobs; |
10 | and |
11 | WHEREAS, National statistics estimate that each |
12 | microenterprise creates 2.3 jobs annually per business; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Nearly one in six or 16% of employees in this |
14 | Commonwealth work for a microenterprise; and |
15 | WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Microenterprise Coalition is a |
16 | Statewide association of organizations, agencies and individuals |
17 | dedicated to furthering microenterprise development in |
18 | Pennsylvania; and |

1 | WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Microenterprise Coalition is |
2 | hosting a "Microenterprise Day" in the Capitol complex on May |
3 | 26, 2010, to celebrate microenterprises and to educate people |
4 | about the work that microenterprise development organizations |
5 | do; therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 26, |
7 | 2010, as "Microenterprise Day" in Pennsylvania. |
