| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Recognizing the formation of a bicameral, bipartisan Military |
2 | Installations and Base Development Caucus to protect |
3 | Pennsylvania's defense-related jobs along with the bases and |
4 | facilities where many Pennsylvanians live and work. |
5 | WHEREAS, The Military Installations and Base Development |
6 | Caucus was formed as a bicameral, bipartisan caucus in September |
7 | 2011 by Representative Harry A. Readshaw, Representative Scott |
8 | Perry, Senator John P. Blake and Senator Richard Alloway, II; |
9 | and |
10 | WHEREAS, The Military Installations and Base Development |
11 | Caucus will serve as an active forum for the General Assembly; |
12 | and |
13 | WHEREAS, The mission of the Military Installations and Base |
14 | Development Caucus will be the preservation of Pennsylvania's 11 |
15 | military bases with more than 164,000 defense-related jobs and |
16 | an annual $18 billion in Federal defense spending. In addition, |
17 | the Caucus will work to strengthen the dialogue with Federal |
18 | lawmakers and military and civilian leadership at military |
19 | facilities throughout the State and prepare and plan for future |

1 | Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) activities; and |
2 | WHEREAS, The Military Installations and Base Development |
3 | Caucus members believe it is our obligation to protect these |
4 | institutions, the family-sustaining jobs that are critical to |
5 | our Commonwealth's economy, to create a forum for dialogue with |
6 | industry and local governmental partners and to ensure our |
7 | continued homeland safety and security; therefore be it |
8 | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the |
9 | formation of the Military Installations and Base Development |
10 | Caucus in Pennsylvania. |
