A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the month of April 2011 as "Month of the Military

2

Child" in Pennsylvania.

3

WHEREAS, Thousands of brave Americans have demonstrated their

4

courage and commitment to freedom by serving the armed forces of

5

the United States in active duty posts in Afghanistan, Iraq and

6

around the world; and

7

WHEREAS, More than 32,000 of Pennsylvania's children and

8

youth have been directly affected by the military deployment of

9

at least one parent; and

10

WHEREAS, These children and youth are a source of pride and

11

honor to this Commonwealth, and it is only fitting that their

12

contributions are recognized, their spirits are celebrated and

13

Pennsylvania's men and women in uniform know that while they are

14

taking care of us, we are taking care of their children and

youth; and

WHEREAS, The recognition of a month of a military child will

3

allow us to pay tribute to military children and youth for their

4

commitments, their struggles and their unconditional support of

5

our troops - because when parents serve in the military, their

6

kids are heroes too; and

7

WHEREAS, A month-long salute to military children and youth

8

will encourage local community support to provide direct support

9

to military children and families; therefore be it

10

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the

11

month of April 2011 as "Month of the Military Child" in

12

Pennsylvania and urge all residents and business and government

13

leaders to observe the month with appropriate ceremonies and

14

activities that honor, support and thank military children.
