AN ACT

 

1Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2Statutes, further providing for exemption of persons,
3entities and vehicles from fees.

4The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5hereby enacts as follows:

6Section 1. Section 1901(c)(16) of Title 75 of the
7Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8§ 1901. Exemption of persons, entities and vehicles from fees.

10(c) Processing fee in lieu of registration fee.--No
11registration fee shall be charged for vehicles registered by any
12of the following but the department shall charge a fee of $10 to
13cover the costs of processing for issuing or renewing the
14registration:

16(16) Any person who is retired and receiving social

1security or other pension and whose total annual income does
2not exceed [$19,200] $23,500. Unless the retired person is
3physically or mentally incapable of driving the vehicle, the
4retired person shall be the principal driver of the vehicle
5but may from time to time authorize another person to drive
6the vehicle in his or her stead.

8Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
