AN ACT

Amending Title 34 (Game) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated

2

Statutes, further providing for dogs pursuing, injuring or

3

killing big game.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

5

hereby enacts as follows:

6

Section 1.  Section 2383 of Title 34 of the Pennsylvania

7

Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:

8

§ 2383.  Dogs pursuing, injuring or killing big game.

9

(a)  General rule.--Except as provided in subsection (b), it

10

is unlawful for any person to make use of a dog in any manner to

11

hunt for or to take big game or to permit a dog owned,

12

controlled or harbored by that person to pursue, harass, chase,

13

scatter, injure or make use of a dog to kill any big game.

14

(b)  Exception.--It shall be lawful to make use of a dog to

15

pursue, chase, scatter and track wild turkeys during the fall

16

wild turkey season or to make use of a leashed blood-tracking

17

dog to track a white-tailed deer in an attempt to recover an

18

animal which has been legally killed or wounded during any open

season for white-tailed deer.

Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
