| AN ACT |
| |
1 | Amending Title 51 (Military Affairs) of the Pennsylvania |
2 | Consolidated Statutes, in Pennsylvania National Guard, |
3 | providing for reimbursement of members of the Pennsylvania |
4 | National Guard for tolls paid on the Pennsylvania Turnpike |
5 | System under certain circumstances. |
6 | The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania |
7 | hereby enacts as follows: |
8 | Section 1. Title 51 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated |
9 | Statutes is amended by adding a section to read: |
10 | § 1109. Reimbursement for tolls paid on Pennsylvania Turnpike |
11 | System. |
12 | (a) Duty to reimburse.–- |
13 | (1) The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission shall reimburse |
14 | a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard for tolls paid |
15 | directly by the member to the Pennsylvania Turnpike |
16 | Commission while traveling on the Pennsylvania Turnpike |
17 | System, provided that the member was performing official |
18 | duties for the Pennsylvania National Guard at the time of the |

1 | travel and the member submits an application to the |
2 | Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission that complies with the |
3 | provisions of subsection (b). |
4 | (2) Payment by a member of the Pennsylvania National |
5 | Guard of a toll through an electronic toll collection system |
6 | approved by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, including, |
7 | but not limited to, E-ZPass, shall be deemed direct payment |
8 | to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. |
9 | (b) Application for reimbursement.-- |
10 | (1) In order for a member of the Pennsylvania National |
11 | Guard to be reimbursed for tolls paid while traveling on the |
12 | Pennsylvania Turnpike System, the member must, within 30 days |
13 | of the date of travel, submit an application to the |
14 | Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. |
15 | (2) The application of a member of the Pennsylvania |
16 | National Guard must include: |
17 | (i) A verified statement from the supervisor or |
18 | commanding officer of the member verifying the date on |
19 | which the travel occurred and that the member was |
20 | performing official duties on that date. |
21 | (ii) Such other information as required by the |
22 | Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. |
23 | (c) Regulations.–-The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission shall |
24 | promulgate rules and regulations necessary to administer this |
25 | section. |
26 | Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days. |
