It is an editor's brief statement of the essential features of the measure as introduced. Requires specified health care professional training programs to include in required curricula training on standardized clinical breast examinations. Requires programs to annually report implementation progress to Oregon Health Authority. Requires authority to compile information and report to Legislative Assembly by December 31 of each year. Sunsets on date of convening of 2018 regular session of Legislative Assembly. Declares emergency, effective on passage. A BILL FOR AN ACT Relating to clinical breast examinations; and declaring an emergency. Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon: SECTION 1. { + (1) As used in this section 'health care professional training program' means a: (a) Medical school; (b) Nursing school; (c) Physician assistant educational program; and (d) Residency program that trains physicians who will specialize in a field that will require the physicians to perform clinical breast examinations as part of their regular duties including, but not limited to: (A) Internal medicine; (B) Family medicine; (C) Obstetrics and gynecology; (D) General surgery; (E) Radiation oncology; and (F) Radiology. (2) A health care professional training program shall include in the required curriculum training on the standardized clinical breast examination protocol that uses the vertical strip, three-pressure method. (3) A health care professional training program shall annually report to the Oregon Health Authority, in the form and manner prescribed by the authority, the progress of the program toward implementing the curriculum described in subsection (2) of this section. The authority shall compile the information and report the information to the Legislative Assembly no later than December 31 of each year. + } SECTION 2. { + Section 1 of this 2013 Act is repealed on the date of the convening of the 2018 regular session of the Legislative Assembly as specified in ORS 171.010. + } SECTION 3. { + This 2013 Act being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this 2013 Act takes effect on its passage. + } ----------
