In this age when we are all becoming specialists, he was maybe the last generalist.'; and Whereas Lynn Lundquist was a graduate of Oregon State University and held a master's degree from the University of Connecticut; and Whereas Lynn Lundquist was a professor of economics at George Fox University and a former member of the Newberg School Board; and Whereas Lynn Lundquist served on the board of directors of Special Olympics Oregon, CareOregon and the Children's Institute, on the Yamhill County Budget Committee and as a member of the American Leadership Council and was elected as a Crook County Commissioner; and Whereas Lynn Lundquist was a 4-H leader and served as state president for the Oregon Future Farmers of America Association, as president of the Oregon Cattlemen's Association and on the State Board of Agriculture; and Whereas Lynn Lundquist was elected to the Oregon Legislative Assembly, serving from 1995 to 2001, and was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives in 1997; and Whereas Lynn Lundquist was the first president of the Oregon Business Association, serving from 2000 to 2007; and Enrolled House Concurrent Resolution 32 (HCR 32-INTRO) Page 1 Whereas as president of the Oregon Business Association, Lynn Lundquist pursued his belief that bipartisanship was the way to build a stronger Oregon, receiving for his efforts the Statesman of the Year Award in 2008; and Whereas Lynn Lundquist was an advocate for children and for education, working to establish a benchmark for measuring the costs of providing quality education in Oregon; and Whereas Lynn Lundquist died unexpectedly on April 9, 2013, at the age of 78, while at his ranch in Powell Butte, Oregon, in the arms of Barbara, his wife of 42 years; and Whereas Lynn Lundquist leaves behind seven children and many grandchildren, as well as a legacy of public service and commitment to the State of Oregon; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon: That we, the members of the Seventy-seventh Legislative Assembly, honor Speaker Lynn Lundquist for his leadership and his invaluable contributions to the State of Oregon and its residents. ---------- Adopted by House June 5, 2013 ---------------------------------- Ramona J.
