                             SUMMARY

The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the
measure and is not a part of the body thereof subject to
consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.

  Authorizes employers to pay employees under 18 years of age
hourly wage consistent with federal minimum wage for period of 90
days from date employee begins work.

                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to youth employment; creating new provisions; and
  amending ORS 653.362.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + Section 2 of this 2011 Act is added to and made
a part of ORS 653.305 to 653.370. + }
  SECTION 2.  { + (1) Notwithstanding ORS 653.025, employers may
pay employees under 18 years of age an hourly wage consistent
with the federal minimum wage.
  (2) Employers paying employees the hourly wage specified in
subsection (1) of this section:
  (a) Must comply with all requirements for the employment of
persons under 18 years of age specified in this chapter; and
  (b) May pay the specified wage to employees under 18 years of
age for no more than 90 days from the date the employee begins
work for the employer. + }
  SECTION 3. ORS 653.362 is amended to read:
  653.362.  { + (1) + } The provisions of ORS 653.305 to 653.370
do not apply to a person under 18 years of age serving as a
referee or assistant referee in a youth or adult recreational
soccer match.
   { +  (2) Notwithstanding subsection (1) of this section, an
employer may pay a person under 18 years of age serving as a
referee or assistant referee in a youth or adult recreational
soccer match an hourly wage at the rate specified in section 2 of
this 2011 Act. + }
