                             SUMMARY

  Prohibits use of temporary assistance for needy families
program benefits issued on Oregon Trail Card to be used to
purchase foods containing high levels of refined sugar.

                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to electronic benefits transfer cards for temporary
  assistance for needy families.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + (1) As used in this section, 'Oregon Trail Card
' means a debit card issued by the Department of Human Services
that allows recipients to access financial assistance provided in
the temporary assistance for needy families program and the
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
  (2) The Department of Human Services shall ensure that
temporary assistance for needy families program benefits issued
on an Oregon Trail Card may not be used to purchase foods that
contain high levels of refined sugar, such as candy, soda, energy
drinks, cookies and other similar foods prescribed by the
department by rule. + }
