77th OREGON LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY--2013 Regular Session Enrolled House Bill 2665 Sponsored by Representative FREDERICK; Representatives GELSER, KENY-GUYER, WITT, Senator DINGFELDER (Presession filed.) CHAPTER ................ AN ACT Relating to impact of poverty on education; and declaring an emergency. Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon: SECTION 1. { + (1) The Department of Education shall conduct an evaluation of the means by which the impact of poverty on educational attainment is addressed by state law. The study shall include an analysis of: (a) Distributions of the State School Fund. (b) Standards for equivalency in opportunities to learn across neighborhoods and economic circumstances. (c) Efforts to mitigate disparities in opportunities that are provided outside of the school day or the school year. (2) The department shall submit a report on the evaluation described in subsection (1) of this section to the interim legislative committees on education no later than July 1, 2014. The report may include recommendations for proposed legislative changes. + } SECTION 2. { + This 2013 Act being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this 2013 Act takes effect on its passage. + } ---------- Passed by House April 25, 2013 .............................................................
