It is an editor's brief statement of the essential features of the measure as introduced. Directs Department of Education to conduct evaluation of weights used for distribution of State School Fund. Requires department to submit report to interim legislative committees no later than October 1, 2013. Declares emergency, effective on passage. A BILL FOR AN ACT Relating to school finance; and declaring an emergency. Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon: SECTION 1. { + (1) The Department of Education shall conduct an evaluation of the weights identified in ORS 327.013 (1)(c) that are used for the purpose of distributing the State School Fund. The evaluation shall consider whether the weights are accurate in approximating the relative costs of educating certain students. (2) The department shall submit a report to the interim legislative committees on education no later than October 1, 2013. The report shall summarize the evaluation conducted by the department under subsection (1) of this section and may make recommendations for legislative changes to the weights. + } SECTION 2. { + This 2013 Act being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this 2013 Act takes effect on its passage. + } ----------
