Allows community college or state institution of higher
education to recover from school district costs of providing
remedial education to enrolled students from school district.
A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to remedial education.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1. { + (1) For the purposes of this section, 'remedial
education' means a post-secondary course designated by a
community college or a state institution of higher education
listed in ORS 352.002 that is designed to bring underprepared
students to the level of skill competency expected of an incoming
first-year college student.
(2) Community colleges and state institutions of higher
education may recover from a school district in this state the
cost of providing remedial education to an enrolled student if
the student received a high school diploma from a school in the
school district. + }
SECTION 2. { + Section 1 of this 2011 Act first applies to the
2012-2013 school year. + }
