130th General Assembly
Regular Session
2013-2014
S. R. No. 266

Senator Seitz

A RESOLUTION
Honoring the Marcia and Dick Weiland Theater on its reopening.

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Marcia and Dick Weiland Theater at Camp Livingston on the occasion of its reopening after its renovation and expansion; and

WHEREAS, Recognition of this special event is a fitting tribute to the Marcia and Dick Weiland Theater for its noteworthy record of service. Located at the Robert Krohn Livingston Memorial Camp, a Jewish non-denominational residential summer youth camp, the theater was created and funded by Dick Weiland, a prominent Cincinnati philanthropist, in honor of his late wife, Marcia, to bring the performing arts experience to young people, and it has recently been renovated and expanded, both in size and programming; and

WHEREAS, Theater is an integral component of our heritage, helping people communicate across national, cultural, and social barriers, as well as uniting performers and audiences alike in a meaningful experience. In this time of increased emphasis on industry, science, and technology, it is reassuring to note that our nation's strong artistic heritage is being perpetuated and advanced through the efforts of concerned individuals such as all those associated with the Marcia and Dick Weiland Theater; and

WHEREAS, The Marcia and Dick Weiland Theater has enhanced the quality of life within the surrounding area, and its generous contributions to Greater Cincinnati's cultural heritage have earned it the gratitude and respect of many. We are certain that as this worthy facility maintains its unfaltering dedication to the arts, it will continue in the tradition of excellence that has become its hallmark; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Marcia and Dick Weiland Theater at Camp Livingston on its reopening and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Marcia and Dick Weiland Theater.

I, Vincent L. Keeran, hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy of Senate Resolution No. 266, adopted by the Ohio Senate, February 12, 2014.
