S. R. No. 221

Senator Manning

A RESOLUTION
Honoring the City of Oberlin as one of America's Best Intergenerational Communities.

WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the City of Oberlin on receiving one of five inaugural America's Best Intergenerational Communities Awards from the MetLife Foundation and Generations United, March 28, 2012; and

WHEREAS,  The MetLife Foundation/Generations United America's Best Intergenerational Communities Awards were created to increase awareness of the importance intergenerational solidarity plays in building strong, supportive communities, and this prestigious honor is a fitting tribute to the City of Oberlin, for it has been recognized for fostering an environment where generations live and work together. This accomplishment is a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection not only on the city itself but also on its residents, for their efforts have certainly made the area a pleasant and friendly place in which to live and work; and

WHEREAS,  America is only as strong as her individual communities, which are unique and which make a significant contribution to the culture of our state and nation. Throughout its history, the City of Oberlin has become known for its residents' cooperation, integrity, and willingness to work hard--exemplary qualities that are still manifested by its citizens today; and

WHEREAS,  Throughout its existence, the City of Oberlin has enjoyed the benefits of a generous and civic-minded population. Those who currently make the city their home take great pride in their community and its rich heritage, for its citizens have built on the best traditions of the past to ensure a future filled with hope and promise; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the City of Oberlin on its recent accolade and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the City of Oberlin.

I, Vincent L. Keeran, hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy of Senate Resolution No. 221, adopted by the Ohio Senate, April 5, 2012.
