| Recognizing National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 - October 15, 2013. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 - October 15, 2013; and |
| WHEREAS, In recognition of the invaluable contributions that Hispanics have made to the growth and prosperity of the State of Ohio, as well as of our nation, we memorialize National Hispanic Heritage Month, and this observance was enacted into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. For many Americans of Hispanic origin, this month provides an opportunity to promote awareness and understanding of their heritage and culture and to increase the public's appreciation for the important role that Hispanics have played in the colorful history of the United States; and |
| WHEREAS, The fabric of America is woven with many threads, each contributing to its strength, but lest the fabric be weakened, each nationality group must retain pride in its cultural heritage. National Hispanic Heritage Month provides a fitting opportunity to celebrate the talents, traditions, and diversity Hispanics bring to Ohio and the nation; and |
| WHEREAS, National Hispanic Heritage Month warmly encourages all residents of the State of Ohio and beyond to attend events to experience the rich customs of Hispanic culture. Indeed, all those involved with National Hispanic Heritage Month activities in our state have strengthened the bonds of the Hispanic community in Ohio; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 - October 15, 2013; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly authenticated copies of this Resolution to the news media of Ohio. |
