To increase the school year to two hundred twenty 1
days.2


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1. (A) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in 3
the Revised Code, for the 2015-2016 school year and for each 4
school year thereafter, the school year for each public school and 5
each chartered nonpublic school shall consist of at least two 6
hundred twenty days or the equivalent number of hours as follows:7

       (1) Five hundred fifty hours in the case of students in 8
kindergarten, unless such students are provided all-day 9
kindergarten, as defined in section 3321.05 of the Revised Code, 10
in which case the students shall be in attendance for one thousand 11
one hundred hours; 12

       (2) One thousand one hundred hours for students in grades one 13
through six; and14

       (3) One thousand two hundred ten hours in grades seven 15
through twelve.16

       (B) The State Board of Education shall take the necessary 17
steps to adopt rules and procedures to comport with the 18
requirements of this section.19

       (C) It is the intent of the General Assembly to enact 20
separate legislation to amend the appropriate provisions of the 21
Revised Code to comport with the requirements of this section.22
