To enact section 5.2267 of the Revised Code to designate October 13 as Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio:
SECTION 1. That section 5.2267 of the Revised Code be enacted to read as follows:
Sec. 5.2267. The thirteenth day of October is designated as "Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day" to raise public awareness and understanding of breast cancer that has spread through the bloodstream to other parts of the body.
SECTION 2. In declaring October 13 "Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day," the General Assembly recognizes that breast cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer deaths among American women and that the risk of breast cancer may be reduced through healthy lifestyle choices. The General Assembly considers public awareness of this devastating disease to be vitally important to increase early detection and reduce the loss of life to metastatic breast cancer. Further, the General Assembly commends the efforts of Ohio's scientists and health professionals in developing new technologies and treatments for metastatic breast cancer and encourages them to continue these efforts and their search for a cure for this aggressive disease.
