A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
To recognize the valuable work of pregnancy resource 1
centers and their positive, life-affirming impact 2
on women, men, babies, and communities.3


BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO
(THE SENATE CONCURRING):


       WHEREAS, The life-affirming impact of pregnancy resource 4
centers on the women, men, children, and communities they serve is 5
considerable and growing; and6

       WHEREAS, Pregnancy resource centers serve women, men, and 7
babies in Ohio and across the United States with integrity and 8
compassion; and9

       WHEREAS, More than two thousand five hundred pregnancy 10
resource centers across the United States and over one hundred 11
twenty-five centers in Ohio provide comprehensive care to 12
individuals facing unplanned pregnancies, including resources to 13
meet their physical, psychological, emotional, financial, career, 14
and spiritual needs; and15

       WHEREAS, Pregnancy resource centers offer women free, 16
confidential, and compassionate services, including pregnancy 17
tests, peer counseling, twenty-four-hour telephone hotlines, 18
childbirth and parenting classes, and referrals to community, 19
healthcare, and support services; and20

       WHEREAS, Many pregnancy resource centers offer ultrasound and 21
other medical services; and22

       WHEREAS, Many pregnancy resource centers provide information 23
on adoption and adoption referrals to pregnant mothers; and24

       WHEREAS, Pregnancy resource centers encourage women to make 25
positive life choices by equipping them with complete and accurate 26
information regarding their pregnancy options and the development 27
of their unborn children; and28

       WHEREAS, Pregnancy resource centers provide women and their 29
partners with compassionate and confidential peer counseling in a 30
nonjudgmental manner regardless of their pregnancy outcomes; and31

       WHEREAS, Pregnancy resource centers provide important support 32
and resources for women and their partners who choose childbirth 33
over abortion; and34

       WHEREAS, Pregnancy resource centers ensure that women are 35
receiving prenatal information and services that lead to the birth 36
of healthy infants; and37

       WHEREAS, Many pregnancy resource centers provide grief 38
assistance for women and men who regret the loss of their children 39
from past choices they have made; and40

       WHEREAS, Many pregnancy resource centers work to prevent 41
unplanned pregnancies; and42

       WHEREAS, The federal government and state governments are 43
increasingly recognizing the valuable services of pregnancy 44
resource centers through the designation of public funds for such 45
organizations; and46

       WHEREAS, Pregnancy resource centers operate primarily through 47
reliance on the voluntary donations and time of caring individuals 48
who are committed to meeting the needs of women and promoting and 49
protecting life; and50

       WHEREAS, Pregnancy resource centers provide full disclosure, 51
in both their advertisements and direct contact with women and 52
men, of the types of services they provide; now therefore be it53

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 130th General Assembly 54
of the State of Ohio, strongly support pregnancy resource centers 55
in their unique, positive contributions to the individual lives of 56
women, men, and babies, both born and unborn; and be it further57

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 130th General Assembly 58
of the State of Ohio, commend the compassionate work of tens of 59
thousands of volunteers and paid staff at pregnancy resource 60
centers in Ohio and across the United States; and be it further61

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 130th General Assembly 62
of the State of Ohio, encourage the Congress of the United States 63
and other federal and state government agencies to grant pregnancy 64
resource centers assistance for medical equipment and 65
unintended-pregnancy-prevention education in a manner that does 66
not compromise the mission or religious integrity of these 67
organizations; and be it further68

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the 130th General Assembly 69
of the State of Ohio, disapprove of the actions of any national, 70
state, or local groups attempting to prevent pregnancy resource 71
centers from effectively serving individuals facing unplanned 72
pregnancies; and be it further73

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives 74
transmit duly authenticated copies of this resolution to the 75
President of the United States, the President Pro Tempore and 76
Secretary of the United States Senate, the Speaker and Clerk of 77
the United States House of Representatives, each member of the 78
Ohio Congressional delegation, the Governor of the State of Ohio, 79
and each pregnancy resource center in Ohio.80
