A BILL
| To enact section 5.2267 of the Revised Code to | 1 |
|
designate September as "Pain Awareness Month." | 2 |
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 5.2267 of the Revised Code be enacted | 3 |
to read as follows: | 4 |
Section 5.2267. The month of September is designated as "Pain | 5 |
Awareness Month" to raise public awareness and understanding of | 6 |
physical pain and pain management. | 7 |
Section 2. In declaring September "Pain Awareness Month" by | 8 |
the enactment of section 5.2267 of the Revised Code, the General | 9 |
Assembly recognizes that physical pain affects tens of millions of | 10 |
Americans and that untreated or inadequately treated pain can | 11 |
diminish quality of life and result in economic loss to Ohio | 12 |
through medical expenses, lost wages, reduced productivity, and | 13 |
other costs. The General Assembly considers increasing public | 14 |
awareness of physical pain and promoting access to appropriate | 15 |
pain treatment for all Ohioans vital to reducing suffering and | 16 |
removing barriers to pain-free living. | 17 |
