       Introduced  by  Sen.  LARKIN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
       AN ACT to amend the uniform city court act, in relation to  establishing
         an  additional  office  of  city judge in the city of Newburgh, in the
         county of Orange
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Paragraph  32  of  subdivision (d) of section 2104 of the
    2  uniform city court act, as amended by chapter 493 of the laws  of  2006,
    3  is amended to read as follows:
    4       32   Newburgh, [two] THREE full-time;
    5    S 2. The new office of city court judge in the city of Newburgh estab-
    6  lished pursuant to this act shall:
    7    (a)  first be filled by election at the next general election at which
    8  it can be filled for a full term to commence January first  next  there-
    9  after; and
   10    (b)  hear  and adjudicate causes of action relating to quality of life
   11  violations including, but  not  limited  to,  housing,  building,  fire,
   12  zoning,   health,  waste  collection,  sidewalk,  agricultural  and  air
   13  pollution infractions; and landlord/tenant disputes.
   14    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately; provided that  no  change
   15  in  the  number of judges, as provided in section one of this act, shall
   16  take effect until authorized pursuant to subdivision (a) of section  two
   17  of this act.
