       IN  SENATE -- Introduced by Sen. ZELDIN -- read twice and ordered print-
         ed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee  on  Transporta-
         tion
       IN  ASSEMBLY  -- Introduced by M. of A. MURRAY, GRAF, BOYLE -- read once
         and referred to the Committee on Transportation
       AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
         the state highway system in the town of  Brookhaven  as  the  "Richard
         Nappi Memorial Bridge"
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 343-z to
    2  read as follows:
    3    S 343-Z. PORTION OF STATE HIGHWAY  SYSTEM  TO  BE  DESIGNATED  AS  THE
    4  "RICHARD  NAPPI  MEMORIAL  BRIDGE".  THE BRIDGE ON PATCHOGUE-MOUNT SINAI
    5  ROAD ALSO KNOWN AS COUNTY ROAD 83 WHICH CROSSES INTERSTATE ROUTE 495  IN
    6  THE TOWN OF BROOKHAVEN, COUNTY OF SUFFOLK, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN
    7  AS THE "RICHARD NAPPI MEMORIAL BRIDGE".
    8    S  2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
    9  lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state  highway  system
   10  as  designated  pursuant  to  section one of this act. However, to avoid
   11  confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce,  the  desig-
   12  nation  called  for  pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of
   13  ceremonial nature and the official name of  such  bridge  shall  not  be
   14  changed as a result of this act.
   15    S 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
