STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 7255--A Cal. No. 911 2021-2022 Regular Sessions IN SENATE June 10, 2021 ___________ Introduced by Sen. OBERACKER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules -- recommitted to the Committee on Transportation in accordance with Senate Rule 6, sec. 8 -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered to first report, amended on first report, ordered to a second report and ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of second report AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system the "Chief John 'Jody' Rossitz Memorial Bridge" The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-n to 2 read as follows: 3 § 344-n. Portion of the state highway system to be designated as the 4 "Chief John 'Jody' Rossitz Memorial Bridge". The bridge over Esopus 5 Creek on state route twenty-eight between Creek Side Drive and Church 6 Road in the town of Shandaken, county of Ulster, shall be designated and 7 known as the "Chief John 'Jody' Rossitz Memorial Bridge". 8 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- 9 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system 10 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid 11 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- 12 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of 13 ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be 14 changed as a result of this act. 15 § 3.
