        AN ACT to amend chapter 50 of the laws of 2021, enacting the state oper-
          ations budget, in relation to services and expenses relating to inves-
          tigations and hearings

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1.  Section 1 of chapter 50 of the laws of 2021, enacting the
     2  state operations budget, is amended by repealing the  items  hereinbelow
     3  set  forth  in  brackets  and by adding to such section the items under-
     4  scored in this section.

     9  For judgments against the state pursuant  to
    10    section  20 of the court of claims act and
    11    for judgments pursuant to actions  brought
    12    in  the  court  of  claims  against public
    13    benefit corporations  indemnified  by  the
    14    state,  exclusive  of  the  payment of any
    15    judgments  arising  out  of   actions   or
    16    proceedings  brought to obtain payment for
    17    wages,   salaries   or   other    employee

     1    benefits;   and   notwithstanding  section
     2    seventeen  or  section  nineteen  of   the
     3    public  officers  law,  for  services  and
     4    expenses  related  to proceedings pursuant
     5    to section twenty-four of article  six  of
     6    the New York state constitution, and arti-
     7    cles seven-c and thirteen-a of the judici-
     8    ary  law,  and  section sixty-three of the
     9    executive law, including but  not  limited
    10    to interviews, investigations and hearings
    11    necessary to inform the decisions relating
    12    to  such  proceedings,  provided, however,
    13    reimbursement  of  services  and  expenses
    14    related  to  the individual representation
    15    of the principal subject of  the  investi-
    16    gations   or   proceedings  shall  not  be
    17    provided for within such amounts appropri-
    18    ated.  The moneys hereby appropriated  are
    19    available  for  payment of any liabilities
    20    or obligations incurred prior to April  1,
    21    2021  in  addition  to current liabilities

    23    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately; provided,  however,  that
    24  section  one  of this act shall be deemed to have been in full force and
    25  effect on and after April 1, 2021.
