KAMINSKY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered to first and second report, amended on second report, ordered to a third reading, and to be reprinted as amended, retaining its place in the order of third reading AN ACT to amend the Nassau county civil divisions act, in relation to the Volunteer and Exempt Firemen's Benevolent Association of Woodmere, Nassau County, New York, Inc. The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 556.0 of the Nassau county civil divisions act, as 2 amended by chapter 73 of the laws of 1940, is amended to read as 3 follows: 4 § 556.0 Precept for payment of foreign fire insurance premium taxes. 5 a. Such corporation shall collect and there shall be paid to it all tax 6 imposed by section [five hundred fifty-three] nine thousand one hundred 7 four of the insurance law, for the fire department use and benefit upon 8 premiums [on policies of] for insurance against loss or damage by fire 9 covering property situated within the Woodmere fire district of the town 10 of Woodmere, [or] Nassau County, New York and within any duly organized 11 territory in which the Woodmere fire department [is] may be obligated to 12 render fire protection. [Such corporation, however, shall remit such13percentage of all such taxes so collected or paid to it, to the treasur-14er of the firemen's association of the state of New York, as may be15required by the insurance law.] 16 b. The officer of [such] said corporation designated by its by-laws to 17 collect and receive the aforesaid tax shall have all the same powers and 18 be subject to all the provisions of section [five hundred fifty-three] 19 nine thousand one hundred four of the insurance law, relating to treas- 20 urers of fire departments. Such corporation shall also be entitled to receive a share of the 2 tax imposed by section [five hundred fifty-four] nine thousand one 3 hundred five of the insurance law, based upon the business written in 4 the territory with respect to which it is entitled to collect and 5 receive the tax under section [five hundred fifty-three] nine thousand 6 one hundred four of the insurance law. 7 d. Such taxes shall only be used [for the care and relief of disabled8or indigent volunteer and exempt firemen and their families] by the 9 corporation in furtherance of its purposes as set forth in section 552.0 10 of this act. 11 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
