        Introduced  by Sen. BORRELLO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed  to  the  Committee  on  Local  Government  --
          committee  discharged,  bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and
          recommitted to said committee

        AN ACT to amend chapter 129 of the laws of 2020, authorizing  the  towns
          of  Mina  and French Creek in Chautauqua county to elect a single town
          justice to preside in the town courts of such towns,  in  relation  to
          authorizing  the  towns  of  Sherman, Mina, French Creek and Clymer in
          Chautauqua county to elect a single town justice  to  preside  in  the
          town courts of such towns

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 1 of chapter 129 of the laws of  2020,  authorizing
     2  the  towns  of  Mina  and  French  Creek in Chautauqua county to elect a
     3  single town justice to preside in the town  courts  of  such  towns,  is
     4  amended to read as follows:
     5    Section 1. Pursuant to section 106-b of the uniform justice court act,
     6  the  towns of Sherman, Mina [and], French Creek and Clymer in Chautauqua
     7  County have conducted and completed a study, each town having adopted  a
     8  joint  resolution  providing  for  the study, conducted a public hearing
     9  upon the findings of the study, and adopted a joint resolution  adopting
    10  such plan providing for the abolition of existing town justice positions
    11  in the towns of Sherman, Mina [and], French Creek and Clymer and provid-
    12  ing  for  the  election  of a single town justice to preside in the town
    13  courts of such towns. The town justice elected  pursuant  to  this  plan
    14  shall  preside  in  the  towns  of Sherman, Mina [and], French Creek and
    15  Clymer following the next general  election  in  such  towns  and  shall
    16  preside for the year term as elected.
    17    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
