       Introduced by Sen. AUBERTINE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
         printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules
       AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to the employment
         of  retired federal law enforcement personnel as special patrolmen for
         publicly owned property
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Subdivision  1  of section 209-v of the general municipal
    2  law, as amended by chapter 843 of the laws of 1980, is amended  to  read
    3  as follows:
    4    1.  Notwithstanding  any  general,  local  or  special  law or charter
    5  provision, the governing board of any political subdivision may  author-
    6  ize  any  police or law enforcement agency of such political subdivision
    7  to employ retired former members of police or sheriff's departments,  or
    8  the  division of state police, [or] retired former correction, parole or
    9  probation officers, OR RETIRED FORMER FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL,
   10  for the purpose of providing special patrolmen in publicly owned proper-
   11  ty within such political subdivision, including  property  of  a  school
   12  district, in order to protect the property or persons on such premises.
   13    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
