STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5740 2017-2018 Regular Sessions IN SENATE April 27, 2017 ___________ Introduced by Sen. LAVALLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Education AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to school aid for the installation of alternative energy The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 3602 of the education law is amended by adding a 2 new subdivision 6-i to read as follows: 3 6-i. Additional apportionment of building aid for installation of 4 alternative energy, including solar, wind or geothermal. In addition to 5 apportionments payable to a school district pursuant to subdivision six 6 of this section, the commissioner is hereby authorized to apportion to 7 any school district additional building aid in accordance with this 8 subdivision for its approved expenses in the base year for the installa- 9 tion of alternative energy, including solar, wind or geothermal. The 10 amount of such apportionment shall equal the product of the building aid 11 ratio defined pursuant to paragraph c of subdivision six of this section 12 and the actual approved expenses incurred by the district in the base 13 year for each school building making such installation, provided that 14 the amount of such apportionment shall not exceed the installation of 15 such alternative energy. 16 § 2.
