         printed to be committed to the Committee on Health
       AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to physician  ranking
         for opiate prescriptions
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 3343-a of the  public  health  law  is  amended  by
    2  adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows:
    3    2-A.  ON  AN ANNUAL BASIS, THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PROVIDE TO ALL AUTHOR-
    4  IZED PRESCRIBERS OF OPIATES, AS DEFINED IN SUBDIVISION B OF  SCHEDULE  I
    5  OF  SECTION  THREE  THOUSAND  THREE  HUNDRED SIX OF THIS ARTICLE, NOTICE
    6  STATING THE NUMBER OF PRESCRIPTIONS FOR OPIATES WRITTEN BY SUCH PRESCRI-
    7  BER DURING THE PREVIOUS CALENDAR YEAR, AND  THE  PRESCRIBER'S  NUMERICAL
    8  RANKING AND PERCENTILE RANKING RELATIVE TO OTHER PRESCRIBERS WITHIN EACH
    9  COUNTY WHERE THE PRESCRIBER PRACTICES BASED ON SUCH NUMBER.
   10    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
