STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 4499 2017-2018 Regular Sessions IN SENATE February 16, 2017 ___________ Introduced by Sen. LANZA -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Codes AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to designating sheriffs, under-sheriffs and deputy sheriffs of the city of New York as police officers The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Paragraph (b) of subdivision 34 of section 1.20 of the 2 criminal procedure law is amended to read as follows: 3 (b) Sheriffs, under-sheriffs and deputy sheriffs [of counties outside4of New York City]; 5 § 2. Subdivision 2 of section 2.10 of the criminal procedure law, as 6 amended by chapter 969 of the laws of 1983, is amended to read as 7 follows; 8 2. [The sheriff, undersheriff and deputy sheriffs of New York city and9sworn] Sworn officers of the Westchester county department of public 10 safety services appointed after January thirty-first, nineteen hundred 11 eighty-three to the title of public safety officer and who perform the 12 functions previously performed by a Westchester county deputy sheriff on 13 or prior to such date. 14 § 3.
