         accordance  with Senate Rule 6, sec. 8 -- reported favorably from said
         committee and committed to  the  Committee  on  Finance  --  committee

       AN ACT to amend the public authorities law, in relation to health insur-
         ance  coverage  for  certain  officers  and  employees  of an eligible
         pension or retirement system upon retirement
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Subdivision  3  of section 1210 of the public authorities
    2  law, as added by chapter 200 of the laws of 1953  and  such  section  as
    3  renumbered  by  chapter  914  of the laws of 1957, is amended to read as
    4  follows:
    5    3. Officers and employees of the city who are members or beneficiaries
    6  of any existing pension or retirement system shall continue to have  the
    7  rights,  privileges,  obligations and status with respect to such system
    8  or systems as if they had continued in their  city  offices  or  employ-
    9  ments. Employment by the authority shall constitute city service for the
   10  purposes  of CHAPTER ONE OF title [B] THIRTEEN of [chapter three of] the
   11  administrative code of [such] THE city OF NEW YORK and the contributions
   12  required to be made by the authority  pursuant  to  section  [B  3-20.0]
   13  13-130 of such code shall be an operating expense of the authority. WITH
   14  RESPECT TO OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT AUTHORITY
   15  WHO  OCCUPY  CAREER  AND  SALARY  POSITIONS, SUCH OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES
   16  SHALL BE ELIGIBLE FOR HEALTH INSURANCE PURSUANT  TO  THE  PROVISIONS  OF
   17  SECTION  12-126  OF  THE  ADMINISTRATIVE  CODE  OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK,
   18  PROVIDED THAT THEY ARE (A) IN ACTIVE SERVICE ON THE  EFFECTIVE  DATE  OF
   19  THE  CHAPTER OF THE LAWS OF TWO THOUSAND TEN WHICH AMENDED THIS SUBDIVI-
   20  SION OR (B) COMMENCE ACTIVE SERVICE AFTER  THE  EFFECTIVE  DATE  OF  THE
   21  CHAPTER OF THE LAWS OF TWO THOUSAND TEN WHICH AMENDED THIS SUBDIVISION.
   22    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
