        Introduced  by  Sens.  SANDERS, ADDABBO, GAUGHRAN, MAY -- read twice and
          ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee  on
          Environmental Conservation

        AN  ACT  to direct the department of environmental conservation to study
          alternative municipal uses for recycled glass

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section  1. The department of environmental conservation, in consulta-
     2  tion with the department of transportation, shall  conduct  a  study  on
     3  alternative municipal uses for recycled glass including, but not limited
     4  to,  the  use  of  crushed glass in asphalt, concrete, drainage, roadway
     5  subgrade, and for the purposes of beach nourishment.
     6    § 2. The department of environmental conservation shall issue a report
     7  containing the findings of the study to the temporary president  of  the
     8  senate,  the  speaker  of the assembly, the chair of the senate environ-
     9  mental conservation committee, and the chair of  the  assembly  environ-
    10  mental conservation committee no later than one year after the effective
    11  date  of  this  act  and  shall submit with this report such legislative
    12  proposals as it deems necessary to implement its  recommendations.  Such
    13  report shall also be published on such department's website.
    14    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
