        Introduced  by  Sen.  AKSHAR -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Insurance
        AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation  to  prohibiting  co-pay-
          ments for outpatient opioid treatment
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Subsection (i) of section 3216  of  the  insurance  law  is
     2  amended by adding a new paragraph 31-b to read as follows:
     3    (31-b)  Every  policy  that  provides  coverage  for outpatient opioid
     4  treatment shall not impose a co-payment fee  on  any  insured  for  such
     5  treatment.
     6    § 2. Subsection (l) of section 3221 of the insurance law is amended by
     7  adding a new paragraph 7-c to read as follows:
     8    (7-c) Every policy that provides coverage for outpatient opioid treat-
     9  ment  shall  not  impose a co-payment fee on any insured for such treat-
    10  ment.
    11    § 3. Section 4303 of the insurance law is  amended  by  adding  a  new
    12  subsection (l-3) to read as follows:
    13    (l-3) Every policy that provides coverage for outpatient opioid treat-
    14  ment  shall  not  impose a co-payment fee on any insured for such treat-
    15  ment.
    16    § 4. This act shall take effect on the first of January next  succeed-
    17  ing  the  date  on  which  it shall have become a law and shall apply to
    18  policies and contracts issued, renewed, modified, altered or amended  on
    19  and after such date.
